Mostly just things I think are nifty - I love finding cool things that make life interesting. I think you should try them to.
Garmin Forerunner 305
I use this every time I run or ride (or XC ski - the one time). It has a heart rate monitor and tells me calorie burn, pace or speed, elapsed time, laps, elevation, averages... and lots more. It also comes with software so I can look at even more detail on my computer - love it!
Yama TCA-SD Coffee Syphon
This is a really nifty way to brew the smoothest coffee ever! The guys at the Stumptown Annex say it's pretty much the best - I agree. Excellent party treat - guests will love to watch the magic unfold before their very eyes...
Vibram KSO
I know, these are weird. I really want to try them for running. I really like these but they're a little spendy. Anyone try them yet?
Oberon Book Mark
I actually need about 12 of these to keep my place in the continually distracted version of reading I do.
JLAB Waterproof MP3
A running, biking AND SWIMMIN music extravaganza - so much better than lugging a fragile, non-waterproof, wire dangling iTouch around in a sock wrapped around my arm...
AeroPress
Another cool way to make coffee. Less fragile, more portable and much faster. Not quite as fascinating compared to a vacuum brewer. Interestingly, made by the same people that make those long distance Aerobie frisbees...
Hario Manual Burr Grinder
A burr grinder squashes beans instead of slicing them. This helps release oil and increases the brewing effects - making better, less bitter, coffee. Manual is romantic, slow and quiet - saves energy...
Oberon Journal
Journaling is a great way to practice the art of remembering. It keeps me from forgetting and helps me remember that God is active and I am actually growing up. Meleea bought me this Oberon many years ago. It still looks brand new and I just keep refilling it. Blank pages that I can write whatever I want. I heartily, insistently and passionately recommend it.
Speedplay Pedals
This may seem scary - but aside from shoes with a stiff sole, nothing with transform the cycling experience more or better. This particular brand is awesome for knee rotation - there is no better pedal. For old knees, there is nothing better than freedom for knee rotation. It is actually much easier to get out of these than clips and straps. Plus, they look cool!
Not Hario Buono, not the price
My dream kettle (how many people have one of those?) is a Hario Buono but it is $55.00 (non-electric) and this one is $23.00. It has received good reviews so it could be worth a shot
Cordless Electric Buono
If this is as good as I hope it is it would solve two problems in one. Essentially getting hot controlled pour water. Genius. Supposedly available at Mr. Green Beans on Mississipi in Portland in January. (Still has not been released...).
Socks
I want to be more like Steve. I need better socks
